My three year old grandson has a favorite song right now. He sings it several times each day. It is Toby Mac’s song, “Help is on the way,” which speaks of God’s help that we can depend on no matter what we are facing. I chuckle as my little grandson dramatically builds into, “I’ve seen my share of troubles, but the Lord ain’t failed me yet…” or comes to the refrain: “I’ve lived enough life to say ‘Help is on the way’.” The troubles that a three-year-old has seen, at least the ones that this little guy has seen, are pretty minor compared to some of the devastating and life-or-death challenges that we see in our world right now,, but God is truly the source of help in all of our troubles. I’m pretty sure Emmett does not understand what all these words really mean, but I hope he truly will hold onto the message of God being his help as he grows. In Scripture we are reminded often that we should look to God for help, trusting and and depending on him. How we need His help! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1″Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2″So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me’?” Hebrews 13:8
